While many healthcare providers may notice signs of autism, only certain specialists are qualified to give an official diagnosis. These include:

Developmental Pediatricians
These doctors specialize in child development and are trained to evaluate speech, motor skills, and social behavior. They often diagnose autism along with other developmental delays or conditions. Depending on training and state regulations, some pediatric nurse practitioners are also qualified to perform autism evaluations and provide an official diagnosis, especially in developmental and behavioral practices. 

Child Psychologists
